“I was driving home from a friends house one day and there was a car with one headlight, it was getting dark, so I turned my head lights on, and the next thing I know the car with the one headlight was behind me. I watched it get close to my bumper, and then back away. after about 5 minutes of the car doing that , I looked in my rearview mirror to see no car behind me. I never told anyone, LoL, I guess you could say I thought it was a joke till I read some stories about this, there are a couple close to mine. so I guess you could say I believe in the haunted car stories now.” – Lauren, SC
“Every Friday a Red and white truck is on the highway to and from the city waiting for people to come by and when they do, a dark figure, which happens to look like a human pretends the truck has broken down. The unsuspecting person stops the car, and asks if he needs any help. The figure goes around the other side of the truck, whilst the guy makes his way near the front of the truck. The guy is looking for this guy he seen, and decides to go back to his car, to find, blood all over his car, and a figure sitting in the car. The guy then starts to get in the truck to make for a radio. But there is frequency. The guy look in his side mirror and find the door of his car opened and the figure is no where to be seen. The guy examines his car. Then he sees something behind him. The figure grabs the guy and drags him to his truck and you hear the guy scream, dead. The truck then disappears.” – Ian, Queensland
“I grew up and currently live on the Central Coast of NSW Australia. One of our beaches is called Jenny Dixon beach, so named from a woman who in the 1960's-70's was hitchhiking down a nearby road and was picked up by four men who raped and murdered her. She was buried in the cemetery on this road. It is said that people driving down this road late at night can see her hitchhiking. some people have supposedly stopped to pick her up, when they get to a certain point she vanishes. She is looking for her killers.” – Leiandra, Australia
"I use to live right next to a cemetery when I was little and we (my older brother, little sister, and me) played in the cemetery all the time. It was fenced in on all sides and hade a gate. Well one night we were playing a game of hide-n-seek, I stopped in the middle of the road. A moment later I saw headlights coming straight for me and froze. My brother must have seen them too b/c he pushed me out of the way. Weird thing was that when we looked at where the car should have been there, it was gone; also the gate, which is the only way for a car to get in or out was locked." - Kaome, Michigan
"Urban Legends are called Legends for a reason, they are based loosely off of some old story that dates back to 20BC, and it probably did not originate in the town that it takes place in. Every town and person has their own version of just about every story/myth that is out there, but here is mine. I used to live in San Marcos, TX and there is a stretch of road not far from there that goes to Canyon Lake, this road is called the Devil's Backbone. There are plenty of stories to choose from that take place on this road, ones from racers going over the cliff, most of them about Indians and Civil War Soldiers but creepy non the less. If you want to get the full stories I am sure you could Google the name "the devil's backbone", anyway, one story that I was told while in High School, was that there was a guy and his girlfriend and they were going for a ride, he had a big surprise for her, (their first night together), and he had been drinking (of course, this is in every story) and she got upset with him due to his speed and he tried to get a little play in the car on the way up there, and well I am sure you can guess the rest, car goes over side of road and the teens are never heard from again except that their spirits walk the road at night. While yes their have been plenty of car wrecks on that road (the reason the county put up the barriers there) I don't think any happened quite that way, but it does make for a nice story." - Jenn, TX
"There is a stretch of highway in Michigan (I-96 westbound between Novi and Wixom) that's haunted. I was riding as a passenger in a friend's car on the way home after midnight one night, and in the median (to the driver's left) I saw the apparition of a man wearing a blue plaid flannel shirt, jeans and boots, walking down the highway...but he had no head..." - Jody, Michigan
"When I was younger my mother told me this story. I didn't believe her. She told me when I got a little older she would show me. She drove me to the railroad tracks on Douglas Dr. in Bracbridge Ont. where we lived at the time. She stopped the car just before the tracks graded baby powder and put it all over the car. At first I was thinking she's gone crazy. Then she put the car in park and also put the emergency brake on. She backed away from the car told me to stand beside her and watch the car
We ended up sitting cause nothing was happening after an hour or so the car moved over the tracks and then stopped on the other side(and theirs no hill there) we walked up to the car and there were little handprints all over the car.
The story goes that then the track were first put in. A school bus full of children got stuck on the tracks because of the boards and was hit by a train. Now all the kids that were killed on that bus are making sure everyone get a cross self. And wow it's true..." - Melissa, Ottawa Ont
"In San Mateo, CA there is a legend about the "Hillside Ghost" that says if you drive on this one road and flash your brights at a particular time, you will see the image of a small boy running across the street. Apparently a boy had been run over and killed by a car in that spot." - Bobby, CA
"On a deserted road a long time ago, a mother was driving late at night with her infant in the back seat. She ran out of gas and her car stopped in the middle of the road. She had no choice but to walk and leave her infant because of the deep chill in the air. As she walked she looked back only to find the car was out of sight. All of the sudden she got this eerie feeling that someone or something was watching her. She began to panic. All of the sudden out of the dark and creepy woods came a man that had caught up with her and began stabbing her over and over. Her mistake was to say "don't hurt the baby." This led him to the car that was abandoned where he murdered the baby without hesitation. To this day if you go to the spot where the baby died and put your car in neutral it's told the baby will push you to the spot where the mother died and then back again. Supposedly, the baby is trying to save the mother. If you put flour on the back windshield, you can see actual handprints. Beware of this spot in Salisbury, North Carolina." - Brandon, NC
"This story really creeped me outTwo guys were driving down the highway one night, when they saw a young girl standing by the road shivering. They stopped and offered her a ride, and lent her an overcoat. When they dropped her off at her house, they forgot that she still had the overcoat on when she got out. The next morning they dropped by to get it and see that the girl was ok, her mother told them her only daughter died in a car accident long ago, and showed them her grave as proof. Neatly folded on the grave was the over coat." -
